I want everyone to know or at least consider: Being "out of someone's league" or "too old" is not a thing. Those are toxic ideas that are being pushed on all of us in order to keep us anxious, sow division (read: destroy solidarity), condition us to aspire to uniformly and arbitrarily (read: decided by the bigoted bourgeoisie) "good", youthful looks only while the importance of good values/character is being replaced by corporate propaganda that encourages nihilism and shalowness.

  • The ridiculous glorification of being in one's teens or early 20s has to stop. We all walk on different paths and have different preferences. Societal "standards" of attractiveness change constantly. Being an establishment stooge that mocks people who diverge (or prefer folks that do) from those "rules" doesn't do you any favors. Lots of this devolves into eugenics while being laughed off as "but muh subjective preferences" by lots of folks.

  • @harmonycorrupted@kinkycats.org back in late 2021, there was this girl I knew who was just, extremely pretty. I thought she was way out of my league as someone who's never been conventionally attractive, either pre- or post-transition. she and I have been dating for three and a half years. we're currently lounging around our shared home and playing video games together. apparently there's like, other things about me that are attractive? or something? I don't know ๐Ÿ˜… but I do know that I'd never be here if I'd let "she's out of my league" prevent me from getting to know her

@harmonycorrupted@kinkycats.org well said, thank you. :) of course people are different and fit together or not, but "out of league" is always downgrading someone.

@harmonycorrupted@kinkycats.org Being "too old" to be in a relationship with someone means that the age gap is too big. And that is really something to be aware of. It plays into the power dynamics and the older person has the obligation to reflect on that - as well as it is self protection for younger people to not date much older people. It is just one dimension of power imbalance, but an important one. (I assumed you're talking about relationships, not work)
