@StupidCamille@eldritch.cafe all of that when in reality well configured distributions are enough for most people. I bet most just need a good browser with maybe some plugins for safety, a media player, and a GUI for their package manager. With that in mind, maybe a Debian with lxqt+firefox+vlc is enough, and we can give people things like 2 to 4 GB of ram in a RPi (or equivalent). It will be safer, use less energy so less energy bill (even if not by a lot), work way longer than anything they had before and be cheaper. I want to do an experiment. So far I have only two data points who are my mother in law and my father. I installed Mint on their machine and never had any complain since then. They regularly tell me they like it and now know how to do everything they need. We need to try it at larger scales
