@klu9@ohai.social We are completely sure that when deploying Firefox Sync you depend on Google and Firebase, internally and for the components, and you still depend on Mozilla. In the past we tried to deploy our own instance and it's crazy, it's the least intuitive thing in the world and the maintainability and scalability are out of this world.

@astian@mastodon.social I've never tried self-hosting moz sync (although this Docker supposedly makes it easier https://github.com/dan-r/syncstorage-rs-docker ) An open source sync that is easier to manage & eliminates any Big Tech dependencies is a welcome addition to the browser world.
