I looked into this a while ago, a common approach is to use #wikidata. But Wikidata was sorta doing the “women” & “trans women” split. which soured me.

@amapanda@en.osm.town hey I’m a pretty big fan of Wikidata, and I’ll admit that I’m not the most up-to-date on all this, but how does WD model it vs what would be expected?

@amapanda@en.osm.town As soon as you invent categories for people, you're sure to hurt some of them. I think the trans label was created with good intent, but yeah, I can see how it makes you feel. I'd totally sign a petition to ged rid of any gender-describing category in the whole world. Imagine humanity consisting of just people without any pronouns. Everybody is just somebody, no matter the cover, no matter the content. I mean, differentiating between women and men even brought us to the point where you have to create said wiki page to point out the problem with that. Yes, I know I'm being unrealistic. But I'm not sure if you can fix the categories by joining some and adding others. I'm just part dreaming of a better world and part angry that there has been so much inequality that the street names are just the tip of the iceberg.
