Released just after my 21st birthday this was the soundtrack to my coming out.
Along with the rest of Bronski Beat's 'The Age of Consent' album it played through my leaving home, my first serious relationship, first serious breakup and so a lot of 'growing up'.
But 'Smalltown Boy' was the one that both hurt and liberated.
