On a hike yesterday, I learned about GPS collars that can be used instead of fencing to monitor livestock and limit their movement. If, say, a cow moves toward a prohibited area, its collar first beeps a warning, then delivers a shock. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nofence First thought: eliminating fences sounds good for wildlife, and a reduction in material waste. Second thought: WTF, they're automating cowboys? Third thought: How long before the fascist techbros make all of us wear these collars?
