@ari@fedi.arimelody.space My point is it's *not* the IR camera. It works fine with any regular old color camera.
Face ID requires the special depth camera, but ARKit tracking is not Face ID and does not work like Face ID. People keep thinking they are somehow connected when they aren't.

@lina@vt.social ah! okay, misconception on my end too, then! i too was convinced the ARKit special sauce was depth-mapping. it really is just a really well-tuned colour camera model? that's even more interesting!
