My life would be infinitely easier if I could just tolerate the stock options that products come in. I almost never like the default colours or options, there's always some little thing I wish I could change or tweak. It becomes hard to enjoy anything without going to extreme lengths to get something custom. Most things are impossible to configure in a way that's pleasing to me.
Feels like a first-world problem to complain about, but man, why am I cursed with this Goldilocks ass personality? 😞

@garak@woof.group It’s not our fault we were brainwashed by the Burger King “Have it Your Way” jingle!

@garak@woof.group Is it only manufactured objects that aren't right for your tastes? You seem to do OK with plants. 🌱🌿🪴

@garak@woof.group Possibly because defaults are normative (and therefore safe/uncontroversial) and often uninteresting. I've certainly noticed, as I've gotten older, that I'm more set in my ways and less willing to compromise than I used to be. I like what I like, and I'm willing to pay extra to get it.
