I don't think that's true. If you look back over her political activism during her youth she was always a cultural marxist, and she rose in a field famous for culling anyone with even moderate left-wing opinions or even apolitical stance. It's possible she has some genuinely good academic work but she's not an innocent dupe in all of this.
