When I was in a pre-vet program 14 years ago, I was fascinated by the structural similarities between Heme (of Hemoglobin) and Chlorophyll (photosynthesis system 1 and 2). Both can be extracted by chemicals, but neither functions as active individual chemicals. The stories given by biologists are misleading. Electron transfer, resonance, coupling are just ad hoc theories. The only fact is the proteins containing them are rich is charges with double bonds of C=N or C=C. #biology
