@shauna@social.coop Probably none. How many layoffs do unions prevent in media? Auto manufacturing? Other areas? They don't tend to. Mismanagement is a big thing in many companies, and tech hired many more people than they should have. But that doesn't get fixed by unions from what I've seen over many decades.

@eriksherman@mastodon.world I did say "strong unions" not just any unions. But yeah, unions aren't a cure-all. I was in a union during the 2008 financial crisis, and the union protected nearly everyone from layoffs (some people did lose jobs and get first priority for filling vacancies), but I know plenty of union workers lost jobs then too.
