@the_wub@mastodon.social @tokyo_0@mas.to The fact that GNOME went all in on client-side decoration, placing affirming UI elements in the upper far¹ corner tells you all you need to know about how misguided these peeps are with respect to user interface design and visual communication. You know, the spot that traditionally holds the place for cancelation UI elements (close window). – ¹: upper right for left-to-right reading languages upper left for right-to-left reading languages.

    @datenwolf@chaos.social @tokyo_0@mas.to I have always used the Acorn RISC OS layout for window buttons that is with the close window button on the far left, others on the right. XFCE, LXDE, KDE can do this from a window settings menu. The last time I tried MATE it was possible from the CLI. I have NEVER understood why a) MS chose all window buttons on the right hand side b) MacOSX chose to have all buttons oh the left hand side and c) pretty much every FOSS bugger after that chose one of these two layouts.
