@muminitaly@mastodon.scot @kibcol1049@mstdn.social Excellent points, to which i would add that any debt owed to the state not only can't be forgiven, but often is collected if one's benefits would exceed a certain amount. Here, if you have more than a few hundred dollars in cash, you don't qualify for disability payments, even if the hearing you appealed rejections two or three times to get (and have to attend in person) found that you *are* legitimately disabled, and cannot be employed. Having any assets at all is bad.
