@clickhere@mastodon.ie Maybe because for decades none of the people who could have radically improved the cycling–rail system (a) travel this way, (b) know many people who travel this way, or even might, and (c) have the progressive sense and vision to pursue it as a civic ambition.

@clickhere@mastodon.ie you can bring bikes on commuter trains outside of rush hour, and belfast/Cork to Dublin trains have a guard van with loads of room for bikes

@clickhere@mastodon.ie yes it can be pretty stressful. Maybe only two bike spaces on some trains and you never know if they’re at the front or the back
