Cambridge and the surrounding villages do have some cycling infrastructure.
It is very expensive to live and we couldn't afford to buy a place near Cambridge. We currently live about 50 mins away by bike, but most of the route is offroad on a decent sized cycle path.

@debbie@mendeddrum.org Cambridge is lovely, but as you say it's very expensive. It's also very warm and flat, which I'm not sure I'd like. My partner lived in St Ives for several years, but it was before we started cycling. We'd probably still consider it as an option though.
