Today 129 years ago (1897-05-13 UTC) Marconi sent his first ever radio message across open sea from Flat Holm(*) to Lavernock in South Wales. 🏴 This little invention has come a long way since then!

(*) Holm is derived from the old Norse "holmr" meaning a small island. I grew up in Cardiff and knew this area well.
