Aussi (en Anglais): CFCs were a relatively minor component of industrial systems, with ready alternatives. Fossil fuels are (or were) the motor of just about everything- they have much more institutional power. But you're also right about the megalomaniac CEOs and their demonic dreams. So many years of capitalist, neoliberal triumphalism, and now they are so drunk on power they no longer even care about science.
