You keep the progressive values, but you keep the center of attention over the blatant corruption and show a genuine commitment to correct it. Otherwise the conservatives will hijack the attention away from the corruption again and continue the perception that "either side will sell the country to billionaires anyway".

Focusing on the issues that matter to voters does not mean pandering to racists or homophobes. The Democrats can both maintain their core values and win an election by focusing on the issues that will actually win them votes. Focusing too much on culture wars is a gift to the Republicans as it allows them to distract from the issues and instead indulge in scare mongering and lies.

The Democrats want to prop up glass cliff candidates with the most reprehensible views. They will wave a pride flag in June before an election, but then vote to strip funding for queer youth centers. In Ohio back in 2024, Sherrie Brown ran for Senate on how he would do tax cuts to "creat jobs" keep men out of women's sports, and help Trump protect the border. Unsurprisingly he lost because he has no actual beliefs and wanted to appeal to non-existent centrists that what conservative policies but don't want to vote Republican. He could have ran on punishing corruption, ending lobbying, and guaranteeing workers rights, but he decided to try to run as a Conservative democrat and got whooped. Now he is trying to run for Senate again in the exact same platform and we are all gonna have to suffer because no one wants a candidate that want to implement 50% of the Republican platform.

Most Dems never even run on these topics either. Its Republicans being all "Democrats want to forcibly make everyone a black trans woman!"
