@vicarvernon@mastodon.me.uk @underseamonkey@fosstodon.org In part, it's that excessive coverage and that even when that coverage is critical of individuals' behaviour the overriding narrative of Reform's agenda is treated as an unquestionable truth. In part, it's two decades' worth of the media (and notably the BBC) fluffing Nigel Farage and giving him a free pass when he doesn't fancy turning up. And in part it's because people living in areas discarded, unregarded and forgotten by the Westminster Bubble have a terminally low opinion of national politics and are susceptible targets for well-financed, highly focused, targeted marketing of deceptively plausible easy answers to all their problems and "others" to blame. Labour's parroting chunks of Reform's agenda without also offering Reform's promise of sunshine, lollipops and delivery of a solid gold bog brush every day from tomorrow gives both the suggestion that snake oil works and that Labour's brand is the inferior one.
