@assimilateborg@kind.social @amirbkhan@mastodon.social sorta, in that both are part of colonial white supremacy. Basically they think there's a "chosen people" they're a part of & everyone else exists solely for their sake, & when anyone acts otherwise they react with violence. So roughly the same.

@assimilateborg@kind.social @amirbkhan@mastodon.social The commonly accepted summary is that Zionists believe that Jews should reclaim their ancestral homeland (of which the present Israel is just a stepping stone), and anything done to to advance this goal is acceptable. Seeing as the area is currently inhabited by people¹, the goal has some practical problems, which are very similar to what Nazis had when they tried to cull non-Germans from the multiethnic Central Europe to create their "genetically pure" Reich. ½

@assimilateborg@kind.social @amirbkhan@mastodon.social No, zionism is an ideology, about the Jewish state and ownership of the lands around Jerusalem. 'The Jews' are an ethnic group of people. Israel is a modern state. A zionist Jew in Israel would say, "this land is ours" and anyone else living there with the wrong parents is told to "---- off and die". A zionist in the USA might say to a Jew, "---- off back to Jerusalem". A non zionist Jew in the USA might reply "But I live here! Why does my heritage determine where I must live?" A zionist believes someone's parents, ancestors, heritage determines someone's right to live. This is what it shares with fascism.
