a neat hobby i mostly lost while living car-dependent and not traveling much is packing. it&#39;s been a lot of fun to hyperfocus on this while cycling or taking the bus. what is the most computing power i can bring with me in public before it becomes too cumbersome? i have settled on the MBP and ipad, because they&#39;re incredibly slim and can fit in a shoulder bag together. if you keep them in a backpack, you can bring a whole range of accessories such as chargers/battery banks (including a chunky anker laptop bank), cables which are thankfully nearly all USB-C with apple stuff and adapters. that&#39;s plenty if you aren&#39;t cycling, in which case you also want to pack a bike pump (fanttik electric pump for me) and almost certainly a tool kit. hand sanitizer, some form of wipe, possibly first aid, a beverage and a place for trash if able. if you&#39;re staying anywhere overnight you also want a bathroom bag with a toothbrush/toothpaste, body wash and shampoo and shaving stuff

@southpaw1312@yiff.life it doesn't make sense to bring everything you can, especially if you're doing it on a non-electric bike. it becomes a modularity thing where you have specific bags packed for specific tasks and take only what you need depending on your needs for each trip away from home. this is just not a thing i've really had to worry about while driving, even if im getting a hotel somewhere because i wind up driving to a nearby store to get anything i missed as it's a non-effort. but taking transit and cycling forces you to be far more ready and aware of your needs. to take it many steps further, you can get into trail camping and keep a whole sleeping / washing arrangement with you on a bike or in a hiking bag. if nothing else, this knowledge means the world if your housing is unstable and you have to live on the street for a while or stay abroad for an extended period of time
