@donmelton@mstdn.social One simple rule, treat others as you would wish to be treated, if you don't want it done to yourself, don't do it to others. Basic, simple to understand, easy to accomplish and yet unattainable for many. We can't seem to grow up.

@mnementh61@mindly.social @donmelton@mstdn.social but that exempts folks like Mormons and JWs from proselytizing me — that would be perfectly OK by the golden rule Or deadnaming. “I don’t care if anyone deadnames me” etc. I like to tweak the Jewish version — don’t do unto others anything you wouldn’t want done to yourself *if you were them*

@mnementh61@mindly.social @donmelton@mstdn.social a slightly different version I heard in college has always stuck with me. Treat others not as you want to be treated, but as they would want to be treated. I think that’s especially fitting when we are considering many of these people are asking to be treated as a human being with worth and many in society can’t even do that.

  • @mnementh61@mindly.social @donmelton@mstdn.social Agreed. Politicians particularly seem not to grow up- have you seen how they behave including in Parliament. Wars often seem to be fought over stuff that looks very much like play ground stuff- they want what someone else has so like the playground bully they attack them to get it. That or like animals fighting over territory.
