@moss@kind.social I've asked myself, if I was somehow alive in the 1770s (I wouldn't be; my mom would have died in childbirth and even if I survived I'd have died of an infection) what would I have really thought of the American Revolution. And the answer is, I'd be really exasperated with these whiners who like tea well enough but hate paying their taxes. I would have basically no agency to express my views or do anything about them though

@catmisgivings@stranger.social I feel you. I have very little patience for “it’s what the founding fathers intended” because their hypothetical priorities should certainly not take precedent over those who are currently alive & suffering. (Also a NICU bby, cheers to surviving)
