yeah we don't tend to have logical home choices like that over here in Canada we also like to design bathrooms in such a way that the sink is immediately in front of the opening door, which means you're not allowed to put the light switch adjacent to the door knob of the closed door position where it would be really convenient and intuitive, which means it's usually awkwardly beyond the door knob in the open door position, because we never have light switches outside of the room they control
