My first time ever seeing American White Pelikans in Puget Sound. Serious birders with nice cameras and ginormous lenses were out taking better photos than I can. They found out on Facebook (which I don't do). I stumbled upon them organically. Free range. That counts for something. So I share with my Mastodon friends. #pugetsound #pnw #birdwatching #seattle

@coucou@masto.ai That’s cool, I think the first time we saw white pelicans in the northern latitudes was three years ago in the Columbia River at Astoria.

@coucou@masto.ai Beautiful photo of wonderful animals. I learned to love them when I lived in Montana. Love the way they fly in formation sometimes.

@coucou@masto.ai They hang out on Clear Lake, as well. And they are huge!
