@rob@social.afront.org I have real friends today that I would never have had without social media, and a massive long tail of acquaintance and interaction that has been (and continues to be) wonderful and uplifting. The comparatively safer corners of the internet (like this one) have value, but they sometimes feel like those small gated towns in the zombie apocalypse shows. Staying inside them means safety, but also withdrawal. Our failure to protect more makes our own survival feel hollow and small.
