@europeanspodcast@mastodon.social the language difficulties do make this a little different, and more challenging. But was surprised there was no reference to Ireland's Citizen Assemblies and the Sortition Foundation. This EU version seemed a bit small scale in comparison.
This sort of direct participation does seem particularly good at setting policy direction where politicians fear to tread eg legalisation of abortion in Ireland.

@adrinux@fosstodon.org @europeanspodcast@mastodon.social That's a very good point; maybe the podcast would consider following up with one of their usual interview format segments with someone who knows about citizens assemblies (heck even Ed Milliband talks about them all the time although I guess you try not to have politicians on the show so I suppose not him in particular).
