If any Labour MPs think the solution to their problems is to replace #Starmer with #Streeting, they need their head examined. No doubt there are many reasons for Labour&#39;s unpopularity, but surely one big one is that they promised change from the Tories and have basically just carried on Torying. Why would you want to replace Starmer with one of the few Labour MPs who&#39;s even more right wing than he is? #UKPolitics

@statsguy@mas.to Personally, I'd say it was an unholy combination of a few things: Several cabinet ministers are part of, or worse than, the Labour Together faction, so possibly have more "clout" within the PLP in terms of getting the necessary numbers; The arrogance they've shown in believing the reason for the dire election results is a question of "messaging" rather than policy; The fact that the more "left wing" members of the PLP are cowards; And that donors/markets and all the other behind the scenes influences will resist or make trouble for any candidate who shows any sign of introducing policies the public want, but they don't (wealth taxes, nationalisation etc). The situation atm has all the hallmarks of when they tried to get rid of Spaffer. IMO we're in for a long ride with this nonsense.
