We've built this thing. I think it's pretty neet. But we've got no clue who else would think so, to share it with.
It's a little gizmo that connects to your network, and lets you send and record IR signal using a REST API.
So you can record the functions of your TV or amp remote, save them in a file, and then activate them from any device that send an HTTP request, which is basically everything these days.
I've set up my Elgato Streamdeck to assign http requests to various buttons, to mimic the handful of functions I generally use, so it can act as a universal remote.
buuuut cos the IR signal can be saved to a file and triggered with come thing like a CURL command, you can script stuff to do more advanced things.
