Crucial Track for May 8, 2026: "A Beautiful Morning" by The Rascals #CrucialTracks 🎶 Today's prompt: What song would you play to counterbalance the world when it feels like a broken and unrelenting monolith designed to bring terror and tragedy? The good news is that I get to see some college friends this weekend. The bad news is that it will be at a celebration of life for one friend's dad who passed away yesterday. 💔 This man was one of the most vibrant people I've ever known. One of those people who can talk to anybody and actually be interesting and interested. So loving and generous. An amazing host. In college the friend group would go visit for 4th of July and/or Labor Day, and we rolled DEEP. There would be like 20 of us, sometimes more. Plus pretty much the whole neighborhood would be in and out of that backyard pool all weekend. In the mornings he would blast "Beautiful Morning" by The Rascals while we were all trying to sleep off our hangovers. He put on one hell of a fireworks display (yay, South Carolina 😂) complete with soundtrack. Made some pretty great moonshine too. I'm so grateful that I got to know him. What a gift.
