Built right before the dawn of World War II. Three of Vestman island's best mountaineers climbed up the near-vertical cliff face, near the top one guy had to stand on the other's shoulders and pull the rest up as it was too high to reach the cliff edge. They then made a 'trail' down the cliff by drilling spikes and connecting them with a chain. Next, a small crane pulley system was constructed to hoist up material and supplies, the remains of that system can still be seen today...
