@Craigp@mastodon.social it's probably a cultural and language difference. I didn't even know that gimp had another meaning before learning of the controversy.
In countries like Italy people will not know and it will not make any difference for them or people around them.

@portaloffreedom@social.linux.pizza As someone who grew up in the US, the first time I heard it was when it was used in a very popular movie just one year before the image editing application was released.
