@Schneems@ruby.social @yosh@toot.yosh.is Some month ago I read an article about Deutsche Bahn (DB, German train operator). The commentator argued exactly your point! DB has since privatisation claimed to make its services more efficient. As a result it has become more and more unreliable. Profits for shareholders and management are up. Punctuality is down.
Instead the article wrote DBs top priority (as a state owned company) should have been not „efficiency“ but „resilience“.

The other day, I got the "your connexion will not be made, kindly fuck off" e-mail before my first train even left the station! In case there was any question, this is NOT acceptable.

@phneutral@ruhr.social @Schneems@ruby.social @yosh@toot.yosh.is This is exactly the reason the State of South Australia took back ownership of the State's railways. Then they made it free for pensioners to ride trains 24/7 because that's cheaper than chasing people for tickets.
