@hosford42@techhub.social @the5thColumnist@mstdn.ca @CosmickTrigger@social.edist.ro my guess is that they're at least subconsciously afraid of the system of patriarchy collapsing, and they see trans/nonbinary/GNC people in particular as a sort of metonym for that collapse, and so attack them because they're more tangible, accessible, and visible. It's also a bit of virtue signalling: they need to make a show of rejecting any "deviant" ideas to satisfy their own anxiety that they might be wrong. They thrive on affective override because they know on some level that their beliefs won't hold up to scrutiny, that their subjectivity would have to change if they really thought about it, so they don't allow themselves to think about it. https://youtube.com/watch?v=QVilpxowsUQ
