You should never be obligated to have your servers be a pass through for encrypted messages if you prefer not to. Thinking about that: would be nice if you could opt-in for private messages going just one to one, like for "fidonet Netmail one to one communication" (for anybody remembering Fido) but opt out of encrypted community chats you can not monitor.
