@cybervegan@autistics.life @pluralistic@mamot.fr True indeed. The key thing is for the majority of current users, they have never experimented the Mainframe era and don't understand the concept. That is allowing companies to trojan-horse a return to mainframe as "services" but in the end the target is to make our devices and us dumber and cloud (mainframe) dependant. I see Tron as a cautionary tale of a greedy CEO creating a greedy system than controls economy and politics and we are currently seeing this in real life.

@danielgibert@mastodon.online @pluralistic@mamot.fr Tron was absolutely that, but the "services" have been centralised for at least the past 20 years - the big five, essentially - and the dependency is already well established.
