«The #iPhone 17e comes with an A19 chip, full support for #Apple Intelligence and a new cellular modem developed in #Israel» Hell to the no. We're talking about a country that not only has been instrumental in helping to build mass surveillance, but who also have put trackers - even bombs inside of phones. I will not trust their hardware, their firmware or their software in any way, shape or form Apple announced the iPhone 17e with an Israelli chip | The Jerusalem Post https://www.jpost.com/consumerism/article-888680

@hopland@snabelen.no What the actual f... Together with the liquid (gl)ass iOS design that nobody wanted, this might just be the final nail in the coffin... My next phone might just be a Jolla at this point.

@hopland@snabelen.no @andyn@social.lol As an American, the same things can largely be said about our current administration. I would be just as surveillance-cautious from something coming out of Intel, which is now 10% government owned.

  • @hopland@snabelen.no I tried to validate this claim and I can't seem to (Not that it might not be true). The A19 is designed by Apple's in-house team (could be in Israel, but everything I've found points to them being based in the US). Same with the other chips. I assume there must be some evidence for the claim but maybe it's that some of the chip designers work in Israel? Or, maybe I've missed something.
