@smeg Thank you for reminding me to boot my VM for contract work, it hasn't been six months, but it might still be an adventure

@smeg Microsoft doesn't care about Windows anymore. They make more money with datacenters running on Linux than their OS suite.

@smeg For the one single Windows application left that I have to use (about once a year) I keep a booted QEMU image snapshot of Windows 7, and its network permissions are locked up so tightly it can only connect to one single port on one single address. Windows is the new CICS.

@smeg I bonked my Surface Pro 7 because of secure boot. I bricked my machine. Thankfully I back everything up and maybe lost a few weeks of random notes I'll never review again. But I love the form factor so I bought a refurbished Surface Pro 7+ F43 is my first install once I disable secure boot.

@smeg If updating is your only problem with Windows, then you should probably consider yourself blessed.

@smeg I thought Windows updates were supposed to be cumulative now. I know it's impossible for us to exclude a single KB related patch at work because they're all bundled up in one big bunch. Wait? Are we getting the worst of both worlds here?

@smeg Exactly why I deleted my Win10 partition couple or more years ago. FWIW [.]gov sites work fine with my Linux laptop running Pop_OS
