@davva23@kolektiva.social "anti-roads movement of the 1990s in the uk" is this related to the rambling revival stuff? I'm not super familiar as an american but i find english pedestrian stuff fascinating [edit: you don't have to explain, i'll look it up, i'm just excited]

@emsenn@kolektiva.social No problem If you look up about "Twyford Down", "Newbury Bypass", "Solsbury Hill" and the M74 protests that is the era and protests I was thinking about. There was also a successful Heathrow protest camp to prevent the building of an additional runway. In France, the ZAD (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zone_to_Defend) successfully prevented a whole airport from being built. It was a collaboration between local farmers etc and activists.
