@joepbc@mastodon.social My point is that a lot of the examples he brings up are entirely self-inflicted. People could simply put their phones away in places where they don't enjoy being filmed. But they don't. Thus worsening the problem.
Big Tech can fuck off, but they're not forcing anyone to have their phones out all the time. They're not making it impossible to date without apps. That's people, not tech companies.

@elricofmelnibone@mastodon.social I agree up to some degree. But I also think one thing isn't completely disconnected from the other. I think the way technology has interfered with everyday life is because of addictive design and other dark patterns. People are being misled and addicted for reasons of commercial exploitation. That shapes society. Fixing that would not necessarily prevent kids from being recorded but we do need the discussion on all of this.
