That's because mass social media is about preaching to your loyal flock and profiting from them.
Maybe other platforms make it easier to ignore replies you don't like or steer the conversation?
Not everybody wants a dialogue, some are just doing PR / marketing for themselves.

@svavar@masto.svavar.com maybe in some cases but tbh in the cases I see on mastodon it's probably more just people being a bit grumpy !
