The Trumpian acceptance—nay, *enthusiasm*—for blatant, predatory exploitation of the system is now the standard political posture: “We are going to cheat to stay in power, because we can.” The explicit replacement of “It’s the right thing to do” with “I’m allowed to do it” is a societal death knell. If we’re to survive, we need guardrails. We need accountability. We need shame.
