Sharkey/Misskey users: Would it make a real difference to you if you could only upload media files instead of any file to your Drive? I'm thinking of restricting it to media files (and only from https) for Catodon, for security reasons. I doubt any of the users in our 3+ years old Firefish server uploaded any other type of file. #Sharkey #Misskey #Firefish #Catodon

@panos@ibe.social what exactly is "media", and are you sure you can detect it properly? Plus: I like the ability to be able to upload e.g. emoji packs (zip files with images + json in them) in a folder where I can find them. Also some kinds of imports and exports in Misskey go through drive as of now.

@panos@ibe.social not a sharkey/misskey user, but restricting media files to https-only is going to be a pain in the ass for some specific cases (like on a hidden service on tor or some other domain that's not supported by CAs). unless you are talking about a specific instance, that's a different thing.
