we're not sure we agree that it's worse, because it does add friction for readers, which does seem to slow things down enough that we don't get the same sorts of reactivity storms on fedi that twitter had. it's certainly not ideal, yeah.

@Catfish_Man@mastodon.social it feels like the fix to that would be for the server software to notice that a URL points to an activitypub item and send an appropriate notification to the appropriate inbox
