@ludicity@mastodon.sprawl.club hey, I spent a couple of years as an assistant tutor on pretty good CS/SE program, ended just before current craze. I have several time experienced when student on an exam tries to give an answer but doesn't have full picture in their head, and that's alright, not everybody is expected to ace, but it actually sounds a bit like bad LLM output: confident bullshit. Sometimes you can just poke around and they will realise their mistakes, but sometimes sadly not. Speaking of job interviews

    @ludicity@mastodon.sprawl.club recently was interviewing a data engineer who was speaking of, believe me, importance of B-tree depths in Index Joins performed by Spark. That was some gooooooooood crack. I couldn't tell if he was speaking from the outside source, like LLM or if it was just panic before the interview and scrambling all DB related knowledge last night without sleep though. Given the speed he was speaking about all the things I think the latter, he didn't look like reading. My bet would be that
