@2003MugishaPhocit@mastodon.social Hi. I've planted a few native trees (redbud, blackgum, river birch), and other than that have some berry bushes, a small flowerbed and vegetable garden. For the flowerbed, I'm focused more on wildlife than showy flowers, so I spread a seed mix each year. This year I did the 'pollinators' mix from Botanical Interests.

I get a good mix of insects, birds, and anoles from these mixes, and many flowers will come back next year (from seeds or roots), giving some flowers by April. I've also used the Hummingbird and Butterfly mixes from Botanical Interests. In the future, I may put more effort into finding seed mixes that are better suited for local wildlife, maybe through resources like the Xerces society.

@DecaturNature@theatl.social This is really a great work you are doing. I am happy to meet you because we are on the same track. I am training youths from the communities and schools about food production programs to end hunger and environmental conservation mostly tree planting . We are mostly planting fruit trees like the jackfruits,mangoes,avocados ,guavas,lemons and others,as we also protect the ones that have been planted ealier. On the side of gardening,we are making school gardens ,and we need help.
