@corbet@social.kernel.org Happens when you put the fate of technology in the hands of organizations that only care about short-term profits. This is also why I'm against things like streaming and SaaS. If something requires you to connect with a company's servers every time you use/consume it, it will be gone as soon as it no longer serves that company's bottom line.
