#TIL 168 years ago, on May 11, 1858, #Minnesota became the 32nd state to join the United States. The path towards statehood started for Minnesota when it became a territory in 1849. Between 1850 and 1857, Minnesota experienced large population growth. Starting at 6,000 residents in 1850, Minnesota grew to over 150,000 by 1857.
