A lot of people miss that, while Trump's 'outsider' status made him particularly credulous on the subject of Israel, he was/is sincere in not wanting more Middle Eastern entanglements, particularly at the cost of American lives. Thus, the ground invasion that would've been necessary to take out Iran for Israel is simply not going to happen. Israel thought they were very clever in tricking Trump into going along with the strikes, but all Trump committed to was going along with the strikes. So now they've burned their one chance to get rid of Iran, and they're going to (eventually) have to walk away with absolutely nothing. They're very upset about this.
