@ret@furry.engineer @cinebox@masto.hackers.town While water level is also one of my guesses, the lack of an cellular antenna, as you describe it also puzzles me. Addidionally, i would've located this device next to the weir/valves (except if the reservoir is of a size where you may need to measure on multiple sides). As to how, i'd guess they'd use a bubbler (http://freefall.purrsia.com/ff4400/fc04314.htm has a nice explanation). Maybe they just log level/temp/quality/what-ever for scientifical reasons w/o real time transmitting

    @ret@furry.engineer @cinebox@masto.hackers.town Little OT: Also, as someone who has maintened such and other sensors in maritime environments, bubblers are only good for sewage if the gas never stops flowing – if it does for a very few days (compressor maintenance while in shipyard e.g.), they'll clog; if it's not too long, one often gets them free again by rising the pressure thought.
